Traveling for the Source

Budapest Parliment, Hungary

As a photographer, I can attest that traveling is one of the most inspiring experiences. While it doesn't necessarily have to be far, the farther you travel, the more inspiration you'll find. My own travels have taken me from Louisiana to Europe, and each new destination has broadened my perspective and sparked new ideas.

During my time in the army, I found solace in photography brainstorming. Even in the midst of stress, taking my camera and exploring my surroundings helped clear my mind. In Finland, I discovered the beauty of nature photography, capturing stunning scenes in the woods of the Arctic Circle. This experience not only improved my mental health but also taught me the importance of surroundings in portrait photography.

My time in Hungary was a turning point for me, as I discovered the world of fashion and photography. Visiting cities like Veszprem, Budapest, and Siofok, I fell in love with the fashion options and clothing styles. Fashion Street in Budapest was a particular highlight, and I still draw inspiration from the magazine I purchased there. This experience shaped my personal style and sparked my passion for creating art through visuals.

My trip to New York City was a game-changer, as I became fascinated with streetwear and street style portraits. I began experimenting with ways to capture the essence of the city in my photos, incorporating location and setting into my compositions. I wanted to convey the feeling of New York without needing a caption, using street corners, signs, and other urban elements to tell the story.

Now back in Washington D.C., I'm excited to explore my hometown through a new lens. Capturing the metropolitan area and the heart of the DMV has been a thrill, and I'm enjoying the challenge of taking portraits in various settings. Instead of waiting for people to leave my shots, I try to emphasize the people to show authenticity and realism.
