A Breath of Fresh

Ms.District of Columbia (Emancipation DC Parade)

I had a fantastic time at the Emancipation Parade in DC, where I was surrounded by a vibrant atmosphere of music, food, and community. The event hosts were warm and welcoming, and the addition of practical resources like CPR training was a nice touch. I appreciated seeing people from all walks of life come together to celebrate, each bringing their unique energy and spirit to the event.

The diverse musical performances were a highlight, with infectious go-go beats and lively cultural rhythms from El Salvador, Colombia, and the Caribbean that had everyone moving and grooving. The perfect weather added to the festive atmosphere, and I loved soaking in the fresh air of Washington DC.

As a photographer, I brought my camera to capture the excitement, but I made a conscious effort to put it down and simply enjoy the moment. There's something about being present in the midst of celebration that's hard to capture through a lens. It was great to see other photographers and videographers capturing the action, each with their own perspective and style. I even ran into a fellow photographer with whom I shared a friendly moment – a dap and a smile – reminding me that even in the midst of capturing life's moments, human connection is what truly matters.

The Emancipation Parade was more than just an event – it was a celebration of community, diversity, and joy. I'm grateful to have experienced it, and I'm looking forward to seeing the impact it has on the city and its people.
