Faith and Photography

Hungary

As I've journeyed through photography, I've come to realize that faith in God is essential, yet it's not always easy. Before every shoot, I pray for growth and improvement, and I've found that this prayer is answered in unexpected ways. Sometimes, the shoot goes smoothly, but other times, challenges arise – bad lighting, delays, or equipment issues. Regardless of the obstacles, I have to trust that my final product will be exceptional.

As a creative, I've been given a gift from God, and holding onto faith instead of being overwhelmed by nervousness and anxiety has been a game-changer. When I first started photography, I was hesitant to even turn on my camera. I doubted my abilities and felt like I wasn't good enough. People laughed at me, but their skepticism motivated me to keep going. Looking back, I'm grateful for their doubts.

Our creative visions come from God, so why not talk to Him about it? I remember asking to take photographs for the Army and receiving multiple rejections. It was discouraging, but I couldn't let it stop me. I continued to hone my craft, and eventually, a lieutenant saw my dedication and asked me to photograph a change of command ceremony. After two years of asking, someone finally said yes. Not only did I get to photograph for the Army, but I also documented a historical event.

I take my camera almost everywhere because I have faith that I'll see something worth capturing. I'd rather take my camera and not find anything to photograph than leave it behind and miss an opportunity. This mindset has taught me to trust in God's plan and believe in myself.

We need to have faith in God, ourselves, and our creativity to get the best out of our art and our lives. Our art is more than just an occupation – it's a blessing and a gift. By embracing this truth, we can create something truly remarkable.
